A board fit with the high qualité Burr-Brown DAC (like HifiBerry DAC+ and DAC+ Pro) and also including a DSP processor (300 Mhz, up to 6144 instructions per sample) with full accès. Enough to create any type of sound based application and not only an equalizer...
The DSP/DAC use tha same DSP than the famous 4 channels amplified Beocreate board. It combines the DSP with digital input, digital output and analog stereo output.

What can be done with a DSP capable board ?
- A DAC+ under steroïds
The board works as a regular DAC+ where we take advantages of the sound processing to adjust the sound exactly to our needs.
- As a DAC converter
For the users still having old CD reader (or TV and other) would be able to connect the TOSLink ouput of the device on the board AND grab the signal on the RCA Output
- Make upsampling/downsampling on digital source
Many audiophiles does have their preference regarding the source sampling rate. Some would prefer using sampling rate at 48 kHz and other would prefer 192 kHz source (the SPDIF limit). It is a point of discussion without end. By making various DSP attempt, you will find best configuration for your need. The DSP conversion performance are better than DAC performance, so do not hesitate to try.
- Spacial Equalization
If there is a parameter heavily impacting the sound, it is the room! The wall material, decorations and furniture disposition will impact the distribution of the sound in the room. Some frequencies would be attenuated and others would sound louder. The same devices and same record can gives a complete different result in a different room or simply by moving furnitures in the room.
There is a real interest to use an equalizer to re-equilibrate the frequency ranges (to restablish the original sound conditions).

- Change the DSP parameters on the fly
As you get the full acces to the DSP, you can change the parameter while running DSP processing in function of the source signal (listen to the television or listen high quality source) or depending on time of the day (being less louder after 10PM will be appreciated by neigborhood). Changing the parameters can take place with a simple command line utility (perfect for Pi and Linux).
- Connect your own I2S DAC
Advanced user could connecter external I2S DAC. The DSP/DAC processor allows the selection of I2S output format. This feature requires advanced knowledge in I2S area and being able to decode with an oscilloscope.

If you are willing to create an adaptative function to controle the volume then we suggest the reading of that project.
